Assurant Compliance Analyst in Rapid City, South Dakota
This job is responsible for performing legal/regulatory research and analysis and providing assistance on key compliance projects as needed to ensure that Global Preneed’s products and processes are maintained in compliance. The Compliance Analyst supports product development, regulatory research & reporting, and drafts summaries/charts according to the company needs and strategies.
Research and analyze state laws, regulations and insurance department guidelines and provide compliance expertise so as to apply to policy text and company practices.
Work on projects as assigned by management.
Compose internal documents such as implementation instructions and other internal/external explanatory documents.
Update departmental systems/charts/databases.
Research risk indicators and prepare charts/dashboards.
Assist in-house attorneys with legal research.
Draft Contract language that is clear, concise and which complies with state and federal laws as well as achieving company desired results. Submit all required product filings and regulatory reports to insurance departments. This function requires the analyst to: (1) prepare checklists, certifications, transmittals, and submission letters; (2) determine information to be filed for regulatory reports and synthesize the information into the reports; (3) request checks, if required, to cover filing fees.
Prepare response to objections from Insurance Departments regarding product filings and regulatory reports. This function requires the analyst to: (1) review DOI objections, analyze cited statutory reference and revise forms and reports accordingly; (2) coordinate with other internal areas, if required, to respond to departments questions; (3) in certain cases, and under the supervision of the supervisor or manager, argue company’s position regarding some aspect of the policy structure or language or company procedures and negotiate with the insurance examiner to arrive at the desired result.
An entry-level compliance analyst would work on product enhancements or less complex regulatory reports; he/she would not work on new product development or complex regulatory reports. He/she would work under significant supervision following detailed verbal and/or written instructions. The supervisor or manager would review the analyst’s work and assist in researching or interpreting regulations, statutes and/or reporting requirements .
An experienced compliance analyst would work under minimal supervision and work on complex products, projects and reports. He/she may periodically assist in guiding, training or reviewing work of less seasoned employees.
High school diploma or GED Equivalent.
1 year experience in one of the following: leading projects, project management, or time-management.
1 year previous experience with knowledge of insurance compliance and company products/processes. 1 year previous experience working with legal terminology and / or performing legal research.
