The Opportunity

  • Provide support to Lab Animal Research Technicians, by assisting with routine Toxicology study procedures while developing and perfecting the ability to handle and restrain lab animals for routine husbandry procedures and resolve issues relating to the care and welfare of laboratory animals.

How you will contribute to make a difference

  • Maintain a high standard of animal room hygiene and presentation; utilize a broad range of cleaning materials, equipment and methods in the daily completion of these tasks. Perform non-routine cleaning of laboratory areas and equipment.

  • Undertake routine daily husbandry procedures including the changing of soiled bedding and nesting materials, the cleaning, assembly and changing of caging and ancillary equipment.

  • Actively contribute to the environmental enrichment, socialization and exercising of various laboratory animals and assists in the handling, restraint and manipulation of laboratory animals. Promptly communicate animal health and welfare concerns to line manager or veterinary staff.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move heavy animal cage racks
  • Ability to work 40 - 55 hours per week, overtime and rotating weekend hours
