Manages and oversees all credit related functions of the Private Banking Team. This includes compliance, complex analysis, problem solving, recommendations and decision making regarding loan portfolios, credit quality, credit products, procedures and client requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all credit related functions of the Private Banking which include managing the loan portfolio, Private Banking lending products and the Private Banking past due and problem loans.
Works closely with Private Banking Advisors to determine appropriate credit products and structure for all potential client requests.
Analyzes all credit requests and prepare Credit Recommendations for Credit Quality review.
Teams with Credit Quality on managing Private Banking Credit policy and updating when appropriate.
Maintain strong understanding of all lending compliance in the Private Bank.
Works directly the Compliance BUCO on all compliance monitoring.
Compile and report monthly lending results to the Wealth Management EVP for the Private Bank.
Works closely with partners in Home Lending, Community Bank, and Loan Support Services to facilitate the Private Banking lending process.
Provides loan pricing guidance to Private Banking Advisors and Wealth Management EVP.
Acts as Private Banking Representative on the bank’s CRA committee to provide insight on non-profit lending and the Private Banking interests.
Stays informed on any changes to the marketplace that may affect the current loan portfolio and future credit offerings.
Provide credit process and analysis training to new and current associates.
Oversees Lending Assistant on the lending process which includes working with and assigning tasks to complete credit requests.
Comply with all Federal, State, and local consumer protection laws governing loan origination including the SAFE Act, the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), their implementing regulations (Regulations G and Z), and SAFE Act registration and renewal rules as defined by the bank.
Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required or job-specific training. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
3-5 years of relevant lending experience and/or prior experience as a Senior Credit Analyst or Commercial Credit Underwriter.
Strong relationship management and business development abilities, analytical and problem solving skills, strong sales skills, and credit and credit quality skills.
Knowledge of Private Banking products and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities to cross-sell the bank’s products.
Strong credit analysis and commercial underwriting skills, including accounting, financial statement and cash flow analysis experience.
Knowledge of Private Banking lending policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage customer relationships.
Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel, and other business machines.
Must be registered as a MLO as per the S.A.F.E. Act requirements.
Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.REGISTERED MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR (MLO)
This position requires you to act as a Bank MLO, which is defined as an individual authorized by the Bank to take mortgage loan applications, offer a mortgage, arrange a mortgage, assist a consumer in obtaining or applying to obtain a mortgage, negotiate a mortgage, otherwise obtain or make a mortgage for another person, represent to the public (through advertising or other means of communication) that such person can or will perform any of these activities, or refer a consumer to a loan originator (Note: Except those employees of the Bank who do not discuss particular credit terms available and do not refer the consumer, based on the employee’s assessment of the consumer’s financial characteristics to a particular Bank MLO) for compensation or gain. All MLOs will be required to register as an MLO complying with the SAFE Act requirements.
This position is authorized to act as a Bank Closed-End MLO, which is defined as any position designated to perform the activities of a Bank MLO for closed-end transactions, and thus subject to specific Truth-in-Lending Act and Regulation Z Loan Originator requirements.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
