About the Supplier Quality Team Leader role:

Supplier Quality Team Leader is responsible for leading the assigned SQ team while maintaining responsibility for a deck of parts. In addition, the Supplier Quality Team Leader will be the technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and our suppliers. In this role, the Supplier Quality Team Leader will work with the SQ team and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues, implement and monitor advanced product quality planning / systems, and also provide technical support throughout the lifecycle of a particular commodity.

The Supplier Quality Team Leader will also be responsible for:

  • Assuring supplier understanding of product and APQP submission requirements
  • Reviewing and approving supplier quality plans on new part programs
  • Reviewing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Implementing and monitoring supplier part qualification and certification processes
  • Determining root cause of supplier quality problems and implementing timely and effective quality solutions
  • Improving quality performance of suppliers by conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required
  • Provide technical support to customers during start up activities
  • Supporting the SQ team in all areas
  • Escalating issues that could adversely impact launch or current production activities

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing
  • Proficient in print reading and part measurement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geometric design and tolerance and gage design and function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments, lean concepts, statistical problem solving, and six sigma
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, quality systems, procedures, facilities and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop possible solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and simultaneously lead diverse cross functional teams
  • Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle within the United States
  • Ability to travel 50-60%

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with Diesel engines and components strongly preferred

•Manufacturing and/or process experience with assembly processes

•Previous coursework in probability and statistics, SPC

•Demonstrated thorough knowledge of GM’s Supplier Quality standards, policies and procedures

Education and Training

•A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience
