POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Powertrain Racing Project Lead you will be responsible for developing current and future engineering designs of race engines and powertrains. You’ll also be responsible for integrating product design, performance, and manufacturing through the use of CAD, CAE, and testing to meet Race project requirements. Maintaining daily contact with engineering functions as programs are developed finalized and put into production. Make decisions within the limits of general practices and standards with some direct guidance from supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Performs design analysis

· Assists in developing engineering designs

· Assists in implementing engineering changes

· Initiates documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data

· Participates in solution of engineering related product problems (Root Cause)

· Provides technical direction to support personnel relative to their specific projects:

· Calibration / track support

· Engine Build

· Machine Shop

· Dyno Lab

· Electronics lab

· Engine development

· Design resources

· Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs

· Plans and implements test and/or development programs

· Releases parts for race production

· Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations

· Maintains all direct communication with Race Team and Racing Program Manager

· Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products

· Travels as required (minimum 10 weekends per year)

* Required:*

· BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or minimum five years Race Project management experience

·Extensive high performance and race engine development and design experience

·Able to work in a highly dynamic environment

·High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult

·Understanding of engineeringtheory and principles of design

· Must be willing and able to create and present information to leadership, colleagues and customers in a clear and concise manner

· The ability to motivate others in a positive and professional manner, prioritize and effectively work in a fast paced team environment

· Understanding of design/manufacturing processes

· Knowledge of computer engineering software

· Must be willing and able to travel as needed to support the business. This travel will take place on weekends and will be at least 10 weekends per calendar year.
