Description

The Combustion Hardware Resource Center is responsible for the development of production-intent combustion systems used globally. Within this organization, the Engine Air Flow and Combustion Development Engineer oversees air flow bench tests coordinated with analysis model results to improve engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions. The position includes conducting dynamometer-based combustion development tests to achieve product objectives.This assignment involves developing new methodologies, creating and evaluating data, leading discussions for decision making, communicating results in formal and informal settings, and driving actions.

Key Responsibilities:

a) Lead air flow testing activities, including analysis of data and reporting of results.

b)Oversee air flow testing capability growth, including holistic integration of results with computational fluid dynamics analysis techniques.

c) Provide technical direction on hardware strategies involving flow and in-cylinder charge motion.

d) Conduct engine combustion development tests, including analysis of data and reporting of results.

e)Assess engine test results aimed at emissions, fuel economy, performance, combustion stability, and other requirements; driving progress toward best opportunities.

f)Provide technical direction to engineering support personnel.

g)Proactively work within a team setting to achieve engineering objectives.Consults with management and technical specialists to meet goals.

Required Skills and Experience:

·Education: Bachelors of Science of Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Masters Degree preferred.

·Excellent oral and written communication skills

·High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others

·Previous experience with air flow testing, engine testing, and engine combustion system development projects preferred.

·Experience with engine fuel efficiency and thermodynamic concepts.

·Familiarity with engine modeling and data analysis tools.

·Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms.
