Job Description:

  • Design, Development and execution of hybrid and electric vehicle energy storage and related system controllers
  • Ensure robust technical solutions are developed for each phase of the programs
  • Identify opportunities for improved specifications and best practices
  • Execute root cause and problem resolution of vehicle or component development or validation issues
  • Work with component validation engineer to develop and approve component validation plan and review validation results
  • Set priority and urgency for Engineering Work Orders, Problem Resolution, and Development / Validation Plans as needed
  • Work with Supplier Program Manager and/or GM team and support the execution and leadership of Battery Controller Product Development Team (PDT)
  • Execute warranty reduction efforts on current product programs
  • Work with supplier resident engineer on execution and approval of engineering work orders as needed
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms and have good engineering understanding and design experience in circuit board and layout, power supplier and ADC
  • High level understanding of hardware design and failure modes in electronic modules
  • Knowledge of electronic module development, manufacturing and test engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to read system engineering schematics and understand electronic / electrical functionality
  • Good learning capability of analyzing for the automotive electric circuit board design, development and implementation of technical products and systems
  • Ability in working with system/hardware requirements development and validation
  • Identify opportunities for improved specifications and best practices
  • Knowledge in applying microprocessor based controllers to automotive battery /vehicle electrical systems and low voltage driver
  • Experience in DFMEA, PFMEA and EMC test/design

Required Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three+ years’ experience in Design, Development, Validation and Release of automotive electrical/electronic components
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of electronics
  • Time management skills to meet agreed upon customer deliverables, able to manage multiple projects
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
  • Experience in electrical analysis
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in circuit board design and development.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • MS degree in Engineering
  • Experience with Hybrid Battery Electrical Components or Chargers
  • Functional knowledge of vehicle and hybrid systems
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated successful team leadership and collaboration with global technical development and cross-functional experts
