The Level III Installation Technician (Advanced Mechanic) is responsible for the installation and management of large and complex security, building automation and/or nurse call systems in all types of facilities. The Level III Installation Technician may interface directly with the customer and must have excellent technical, leadership and customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions in electrical equipment, wiring, and fixtures: replaces and repairs malfunctioning motors, switches, wiring, and fixtures.
Installs and connects electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to specifications.
Operates various hand and light power tools to splice wires, solder connections, cut or drill wiring holes for fixtures and to attach or anchor fixtures and conduit: operates various meters to test voltage, amperage and continuity of electrical circuits.
Operates power tools to cut and bend conduit and pull wire through conduit: attaches conduit to wire panels, breaker boxes, and other fixtures.
Completes work orders for each project by listing the amount of time and materials used.
Climbs ladders and operates hydraulic bucket truck to reach and replace or repair interior and exterior lighting fixtures, bulbs and electronic components for the Citys warning sirens.
Performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, fixtures, wiring and motors.
Computes the required capacity of materials and fixtures for new facilities based on the type of equipment of fixtures to be installed and the voltage and/or amperage requirements.
Estimates the amount of materials required for each project: requisitions or purchases needed materials.
Receives work orders listing repairs, maintenance and installations needed.
Operates a light truck to transport tools, materials, and equipment to various work sites.
Tests installed systems to assure 100% compliance
Inspects the work of electrical contractors performing work to ensure work meets with specifications and codes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
Completed Electrician Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience
Minimum of two years of Level II Installation Technician experience
Via on-the-job training, applied online or manufacturer training, must possess a complete and advanced understanding to install and manage large and complex systems to encompass one or more of the following systems: Access Control/CCTV/Burglar, Building Automation, and/or Nurse Call/Sound systems
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Work primarily will be in a climate controlled type atmosphere. Occasionally, work will be done either outside or in non-heated or non-air conditioned buildings, presenting possible extremes of hot and cold. The employee will be working in a variety of environments including some that have many special rules and procedures which must be followed at all times. When working in a chemical plant environment, these rules include wearing fire retardant clothing, hard hats, safety harness, hearing protection and other personal protective equipment. This position may require the employee to operate and work from a motorized man-lift. The position may require heavy lifting, climbing and heavy physical exertion.
