Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Must self identify as a consumer of Behavioral Health Services (mental health or addiction) and in recovery for at least one year. Note supplemental questionnaire at bottom of this section. Please complete this questionnaire.
Liaison Officers (Peer Support Specialists) are persons who are actively involved in recovery-based services for mental illness and/or addictive disorders. They are a person who is engaged in the recovery process. Liaisons will provide services to include education, advocacy, and peer support to individual clients or client groups. Liaison will be required to have certification as a Peer Support Specialist or be able to obtain within the first 90 days.
Examples of Work
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to assist patients to understand the recovery based services being offered to them. Advocate for patient choices. May provide one -on -one or group supportive counseling and prepare/deliver individual and group presentations on recovery philosophy and techniques.
Attend and participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings for those clients who agree to their participation. Assist clients in developing self-determined goals and preferences for their individual recovery plan. Assist with acquisitions of source documents and benefits.
Attend and participate in hospital orientation for new employees by providing a brief overview of the Liaison Officer role as part of treatment team and aspects of the recovery model utilized by the hospital.
