Job Overview:

Train/instruct welders on techniques. Has a strong background in TIG welding of aluminum material and MIG welding of aluminum and steel materials and AWS codes and standards. Review current process and make recommendations for improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs supervisors in the utilization of material and equipment to produce quality switchgear products in a timely manner.

  • Identify and resolve part shortages affecting production

  • Trains subordinates in the proper assembly requirements of diverse Switchgear products

  • Resolves, labor, material and equipment problems to assure continuous production of required products

  • Contribute to cost reduction programs improving methods of operation or material used in the operation

  • Comply with MRP, Affirmative action, OSHA, Safety Related and lost time programs.

  • Maintain a harmonious and productive relationship with other programs

  • Comply with all facets of the ISO9002 Quality Systems throughout his/her area of responsibility

  • Assure the operation is in compliance with all city, state and federal regulations with in area of responsibility

  • Assists with planning and implementation of the production plant

  • Interface with product and manufacturing Engineering to resolve current production problems and a smoother transition for new products

  • Maintain adherence to production schedule adjusting when necessary to achieve the long term goal.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate.

  • Some college preferred in electrical, mechanical engineering or business

  • Minimum of 5 years of Fitter/Welder (Level 2 welding)experience.

  • Knowledge of methods and procedures

  • Working knowledge or small tools and equipment

  • Minimum or 5 years in experience in supervision of union employees.
