The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the recruitment for a part time-permanent Registered Nurse 2 at our Washington Soldiers Home (WSH). Join the mission driven team at WSH and serve our veterans as a Registered Nurse. This job is located at the Washington Veterans Home, located in Orting, near Puyallup.
This position works part-time from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM

WDVA operates three veterans homes in Port Orchard, Orting, Spokane,and Walla Walla providing Medicare and Medicaid nursing care for honorably discharged veterans, to include, in some instances, their spouses, widow(er)s or gold star parents.

Under the direct supervision of the physician or supervising nurse: prepare, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologist, social workers, ancillary service providers, and/or other nurses. Be able to treat minor ailments such as headaches, stomachaches, colds, influenza, cuts and scratches and perform eye and ear irrigation, apply surgical dressings and bandages, insert nasal gastric tubes and give first aid.
Examine residents to determine their need for medical care and monitor treatments for efficacy making recommendations as necessary to the care team or physician. Direct and supervise subordinate nursing personnel and coordinate assignments of staff to residents, records and administers or oversees the administration of medications, collaborates with other members of the health care team to develop individual care plans for residents, observe and record physical and mental condition of residents and evaluate whether they require the attention of a physician. Provide professional nursing services including planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating nursing care
Current and valid Washington State License to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Additional work experience as a Registered Nurse is desirable.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background check every two years and remain free from disqualifying convictions.
Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test.
Positions may be required to work overtime and/or holidays.
Positions in this classification are included in a union shop.
