About the Agency

Duties for the FG-06 position: Serves as Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards field office. Provides administrative and semi-technical support to the Aviation Safety Inspectors by obtaining background data, preparing reports, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing certificates, and maintaining technical and administrative files.
Duties for the FG-07 position: Operates as an Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards field office. Provides administrative and semi-technical related support to the supervisor or manager, Aviation Safety Inspectors and Administrative Officer by utilizing advanced automation system tools relevant in the Safety Assurance System environment which includes, but is not limited to obtaining background data, preparing reports, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing certificates, and maintaining technical and administrative files.

To qualify for this position at the FG-6/FV-D grade, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 52 weeks/ 1 year of specialized experience equivalent FG-5/FV-D in the Federal Service. To qualify for this position at the FG-7/FV-E grade, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 52 weeks/ 1 year of specialized experience equivalent FG-6/FV-D in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but not limited to:experience that demonstrates analyzing problems, gathering data, recognizing solutions, planning and organizing work, and conveying information in an office environment; creating and maintaining administrative and technical files, conducting interviews, preparing reports, researching, writing and typing non-technical and technical correspondence, and using automated systems for data entry.
