Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree and three years of professional research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master’s Degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will exceed the minimum requirement of professional research experience and have extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of confocal microscopy, general microscopy, microscopy maintenance, sample preparation (cultured cells, tissues, etc) and post-acquisition morphometric analysis of images, animal behavior, demonstrated training in the proper use and disposal of radioactive materials and general lab management of shared equipment.

Duties Description

  • Management of microscopy facilities and maintenance of light and confocal microscopes.

  • Development of new imaging applications and protocols for general use by investigators to facilitate optimal use of CDR resources.

  • Provide direction on the use of radioactive materials in accordance with applicable licensure requirements.

  • Instruction on basic and advanced uses of microscopes and post-imaging handling and storage of data.

  • Oversight of departmental instrumentation, including tissue processing, film development, animal behavior and supervision of users and use schedules, and interface with vendors/ support individuals in the CDR and other NKI departments.

  • General assistance to the Division Head in the management of operations and initiatives that enhance the well-being and productivity of investigators
