Parallon GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Under the direction of a shared facility HIM Director, the Facility HIM Coordinator will assist as needed in the day-to- day HIM Departmental clerical activities. This position will serve as the on- site initial point of contact when the HIM Director is off-site for the Facility Leadership and the Medical Staff. Acts as facility liaison to the facility HIM Director and, Operations Director as needed.

**Initial on-site point of contact when HIM Director is off-site for facility leadership and Medical Staff

**Assists with payroll process

**Assists Facility File Clerks with questions

**Assists Facility HIM Director in employee training and development

**Possesses general knowledge in the subject of HIPAA privacy

**Possesses general knowledge in the subject of Corporate Records Management guidelines

**Adheres to documented and established workflow guidelines as it relates to managing work queues

**Assists in the processing of walk-in requests for Release of Information

**Retrieves discharged medical records from various nursing units and ancillary departments as needed

**Assists in reconciling discharged medical records to ensure receipt of all records within twenty-four (24) hours of discharge/visit

**Assists physicians in record completion activities

**Provides training and education of record completion enabling technology

**Routes loose reports and/or late documentation to document imaging for scanning as needed

**Requests and returns paper records from off-site storage as applicable

**Retrieves and prints medical records from microfilm as applicable

**Assists in opening HIM mail and routes medical record requests to document scanning for immediate scanning

**Photocopies paper medical records as directed by the ROI staff

**Maintains or exceeds established productivity standards while achieving or exceeding established requirements for accuracy

**Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and the “Mission and Value Statement”

**Other duties as assigned
