We currently are seeking a talented Weigher Operator. This key position will be based in our Opelika AL facility.
Purpose of Job:
Responsible for weighing all partial containers of ingredients to be used in manufacturing batches of vitamin tablets, ensuring accuracy of weight and correct types of ingredients.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Reads batch record sheets to identify required materials; locates ingredients and pulls from stock using a fork lift/pallet jack.
Uses scales to weigh partial containers and subdivides ingredients as necessary.
Prepares product labels and makes necessary entries on batch records.
Locates, pulls and transports product and other needed materials to the weigh room using a fork lift/pallet jack; checks to ensure correct product and other materials are transported. Scan material containers using radio frequency scanners and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to Pick, Stage, Charge or Yield materials and affixes labels to each container as needed.
Performs tasks in JDEdwards enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (eg. launching schedules, generating move tickets, re-allocation of raw materials) to ensure availability of material and inventory accuracy.
Transports weighed ingredients to staging area using fork lift/pallet jack.
Subdivides, uses scales to accurately weigh, and transports product within specific Operations room as instructed.
Assists in staging, set-up, loading, and unloading of raw material containers in weigh room as specified in SOP's and Job instructions. Support preparing partial containers and cleaning equipment and room; cross trains in any or all of the duties of specific Operations operator
Cleans and prepares drum containers for more ingredients.
Checks part numbers, lot numbers, and expiration date on all ingredients to ensure accuracy, completeness and use of ingredients well before expiration date in compliance with GMPs.
Performs minor cleaning of equipment and process area to ensure sanitary conditions and compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP
Apply Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to charge and yield products.
Maintains inventory log sheets on all partial raw materials.
Coordinates with Production Planning to prevent shortages of raw materials.
Performs related duties as required.
Requires a High School diploma or its equivalent.
Requires forklift certification within six months of attaining position.
Requires a working knowledge of weighing operations, typically resulting from a minimum of three months experience.
Manual dexterity to manipulate controls on compressing and testing equipment
Physical ability to work on feet for a full shift, regularly lift and carry heavy containers, and perform all duties of job in a safe manner
Physical ability to bend and scoop large quantities of raw materials from various containers and to work on feet for a full eight or twelve hour shift
Written and verbal communication skills in English to maintain routine written logs and records, communicate with supervisors and others and read batch records, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations
Basic computer literacy including system log-in, navigation, keyboard and Internet/web-based application use. Basic Word, Excel, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience preferred
Basic math skills to include addition, multiplication and division
Stand/walk for the full shift, with little/no flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others. Perform repetitive job duties for long periods of time. Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds. Pull/push large containers of product and uses hand dollies or pallet jacks as necessary.
Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort. The employee must wear protective eye wear, hair nets, uniforms, dust mask, safety shoes, gloves and back support.
