Registered Nurse – RN Baby Care/Transition - Days

Women’s Services Transition Nurse The Neonatal Transition Nurse is an innovative, autonomous role designed to consistently provide transitional care for eligible infants at the mother’s bedside. The Neonatal Transition nurse will assist the infant having difficulty in transition from fetal to neonatal life with the goal of avoiding NICU admission and maternal-newborn separation.

Responsibilities include: · Transition of the newborn to include management of hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and mild respiratory distress. · Promote maternal and newborn bonding during transition period. · Communicate and collaborate with physician and nursing leadership to facilitate infant transition. · Inform and educate bedside nursing staff and parents on transition physiology, trajectory of care and infant status. · Assist with assessment of newborns exhibiting possible signs of distress. · Assist with baby advocacy, newborn assessments or other assigned duties when no transition infants are present.

  • Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex

  • Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients

  • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Oklahoma - must obtain prior to employment

  • Must have the minimum of an Associates Degree (ADN) in Nursing

  • Must have excellent communication skills and good computer skills MUST HAVE RN – NEWBORN EXPERIENCE
