6 Step Down beds prepared with bedside cardiac monitoring. In step down level of care more critical and advanced nursing interventions are provided and may include treatment such as

o CPAP/BIPAP o Hemodynamic monitoring o Arterial Lines o Insulin Drips o Administration and care of patients receiving intra-peritoneal chemotherapy o Administration and care of patients receiving high dose Interleukin 2

8 Medical Oncology beds with a patient population consisting of those diagnosed with disease processes classified as solid tumor cancers. Patient’s acuities are often high because of the potential for multi system complications related to chemotherapy and/or disease processes. Nursing interventions and treatments may include:

o Chemotherapy and Biotherapy administration and monitoring o Blood product administration o Palliative care o Management of oncologic emergencies (TLS, DIC, Neutropenic Fever, Cardiac Tamponade) o Management Central Venous Catheter including ports

General Description:

Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.

*Shift Requirement – 24 hours in a schedule *Float Requirement – Within single service line *Weekend Requirement – As determined by department leadership *Holiday Requirement – 1major; 1 minor

Essential Function/Duties:

Provides a flexible workforce to supplement the inpatient nursing units on the campus. Obtains a limited history and assessment documenting such things as chief complaint, allergies, current medications and the immunization status of patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. When necessary, will assist the front desk with appointments and discharges. Assists with coordinating hospital admissions from the clinic and/or transferring patients. Administer medication as prescribed.

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):

Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time. Good mental and physical health to work for long periods of time in a stressful atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:

**Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing. *Experience 1 year acute care RN experience **Licensure: Possession of a valid temporary license or permanent license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse prior to entrance on duty. Permanent license must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
