HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Endoscopy Technician in Ogden, Utah

Provides skilled technical assistance to the Endoscopist, assists the professional nurse in administering patient care and performs clerical and non-patient related activities such as caring for endoscopic equipment and instruments. 1. Accountable for adhering to CORMC mission including meeting behavioral expectations (compassion, caring and confidentiality), providing excellence in health care delivery, supporting dignity of all persons (empowerment) and responsible stewardship of resources. 2. Assists in patient care of endoscopy patients including admission, procedures, recovery and discharge; maintains the department’s standard of care requirements. Starts IV lines when certified. 3. Accepts responsibility for care, cleaning, disinfection, maintenance and storage of specialty equipment and fiber optic instruments following established procedures. 4. Performs clerical and non-patient related activities to maintain the harmonious functioning of the department, i.e., running errands, cleaning, ordering and stocking supplies, scheduling procedures, etc. Completes department records and maintains statistics. 5. Gives direct assistance to the Endoscopist to contribute to high quality endoscopic examinations such as preparing equipment for procedures and preparing the room and cleaning up after procedures using aseptic techniques. Prepares for emergency procedures as may be necessary. 6. Collects specimens and documents results as necessary. Records pertinent data including vital signs during procedures. 7. Follows guidelines that maintain safety for oneself, patients, visitors and co-workers and if classified as a category I or II employee under OSHA regulation, adheres to OSHA standards by wearing personal protective equipment, following universal precautions and being knowledgeable about blood borne pathogens. 8. Performs other duties as may be assigned. 9. Work is performed mainly in the Endoscopy Department including the recovery and procedure rooms. 10. Incumbents are required to stand while procedures are being performed, transport patients and work around X-Ray equipment using fluoroscopy. 11. Contact with patient body fluids and tissues including blood are frequent and inevitable. 12. Routine exposure to cleaning chemicals is expected. 13. This position requires on-call coverage.

  • Must be or become IV certified to start IV lines.
  • C.N.A. certification preferred, and expected to be completed within 1 year of employment, if not currently certified.
  • Medical terminology and completion of a basic nurse assistant program.
  • Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience in an acute care facility required.
  • Trained in skills and techniques of endoscopy at a recognized training program and/or on the job experience preferred.
  • 1 year endo/surg tech experience.
