Summary: The Government & Community Relations Specialist will assist in the development and maintenance of a strong governmental and community network which supports Alameda Health System's mission and values. Helps track and manage relationships with local, state, and federal officials and community-based organizations, including participation of AHS employees in community activities. Helps track policy issues and coordinate organizational responses. Coordinates AHS participation in community events. Represents AHS atcommunity events, some on evenings and weekends. Provides staff support to Board of Trustee's Community Advisory Council. Assists in the creation of efficient processes and data management to support this work.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:NOTE:The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.1. Community Relations: Assist in the development of community partnerships that buildupon and enhance AHS programs/services. 2. Community Relations: Represent AHS at community meetings and events, and engage and schedule the participation of AHS volunteers. 3. Community Relations: Serve as contact for community organizations and leaders;recommend and handle responses as assigned. 4. Maintain community relations calendar; produce periodic reports and updates on community events. 5. Participate, under the direction of the Government and Community Relations Manager in the Community Engagement Team. 6. Coordinate submission of sponsorship requests and invoices. 7. Coordinate development and maintenance of the Community Engagement web page to support and recognize staff participation in community. 8. Develop backgrounders, fact sheets, talking pointsand other content for the community engagement web page. 9. Support development of tour programs at all AHS facilities including coordinating and leading tours for community organizations and external stakeholders. 10. Proactively seek community engagement opportunities that are aligned with AHS missions, vision and values. 11. Manage system for tracking and utilization of branded assets for community events. 12. Government Relations: Maintain current Constant Contact database. 13. Government Relations: Produce monthly reports to Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership Team. 14. Government Relations: Be an effective team member by working collaboratively withinternal and external stakeholders at all levels and positions; coordinate activities across multiple functional groups and to manage and work collaboratively in taskforce teams. 15. Government Relations: Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership. 16. Government Relations: Serve as contact for city, county, and local elected and other government officials; recommend and handle responses as assigned. 17. Government Relations: Track Legislation, policy issues and coordinate organizational responses. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college. Minimum Experience:Two to five years of relevant experience in government or community relations.
