Kelly Services Sales Engineer in Oak Grove, Oregon
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to provide selection of appropriate machinery and efficient system arrangement to fit customer needs. To prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews customer specifications to determine equipment layout, material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists, spreadsheets, quotations and sales presentations Consults with sales persons, management and/or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual cost Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3-5 years of related experience. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical equipment. Experience in sales, purchasing or costing of equipment that performs automated packaging handling
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contract Management systems; design software; internet software; manufacturing software; order processing systems; project management software; spreadsheet software, and AutoCAD software.
