Bank of Hawaii Mortgage Loan Servicing Assistant in Oahu, Hawaii


Position Overview: The Mortgage Loan Servicing Assistant is responsible for reviewing insurance policies for compliance and disburses payments for insurance, lease rent and sewer assessment as well as cross-training staff on new functions and enhancements to the system. Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.


  • Reviews insurance policies and various reports for compliance with investor guidelines and/or bank standards.

  • Follows-up with customer or insurance agent for underlined policies.

  • Disburses payments for hazard, hurricane, flood, mortgage insurance and optional insurance; lease rent; sewer assessment; real property taxes, etc. timely and accurately to avoid penalties.

  • Deals with inquiries from internal and external customers and resolves problems through non-standard means with little supervision.

  • Communicates effectively verbally and written with customers and all levels of management.

  • Understands and utilizes the functionality of the Mortgage Application System and other system tools available to perform duties more efficiently and effectively.

  • Cross-trains staff on new functions and enhancements to the system or operations within section and department.

  • Assists in formulation, communication and implementation of department policies.

  • Coordinates departmental changes required to improve customer service and reduce overall cost.

  • Makes recommendation to management regarding escrow administration programs.



  • College degree or equivalent work experience.


  • Two year of mortgage/escrow administration experience.


  • Windows Applications (Word, Excel, Access), knowledge of Mortgage Servicing System, mainframe applications.


  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal; negotiation skills; financial analysis skills; organizational skills.
