Preferred Qualifications

General knowledge of Texas State University or Texas State Alumnus.Bilingual Spanish.Two years or more of prior experience in college admissions or closely related experience.Experience working independently with minimum supervision.

Job Description

The purpose of the job is to recruit prospective students from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area to Texas State. Recruitment includes visits to high schools and two-year colleges as well as on and off campus programming. The position provides specific information on Texas State and advises students/parents so that the correct college choice might be made. This position reads admission files and recommends admission decisions. Must reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include: extensive travel to Texas high schools, two-year colleges and other community events; extensive contact and collaboration with high school and community college students, high school counselors, college advisors, university alumni and other community organizations; assisting with university programming such as campus visit days, bus trips and information sessions; assisting with preparation of correspondence and statistical reports; counseling prospective students and families in the college selection process; evaluating academic credentials; communicating admission decisions; assisting faculty and other departments in recruitment efforts; and other duties as assigned. Some overnight, weekend and/or evening work required. Must reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area.
