Storage/Unix/Wintel Engineers Location –Gloucester, Aldershot or London

May require government security clearance

Major Areas of Responsibility: The incumbent is responsible for the effective service delivery of professional customer service meeting the performance level set out in the service level agreement with the client.

This involves;

  • Provide second level support on incident and problem tickets assigned and related to the appropriate technologies

  • Empowered to deliver one touch resolutions for all types and incident and problem severities, appropriate to the skill level of the Team

  • Perform activities aligned to incident and problem resolutions

  • Perform problem management activities aligned to ITIL practices and appropriate for the Yellow Team skills and capabilities

  • Identify opportunities for automation and 3-2-1-0 and agree plan with Yellow Team leadership

  • Identify, define and undertake Service Improvement Activities agreed with Yellow Team Leadership

  • Maintain/update/contribute to technical documentation as necessary and follow approval process

  • Escalate or assign the incidents & problems needing next level capabilities for timely resolution

  • Document knowledge articles and share information with all colleagues as appropriate

  • Drive down the number of incidents (especially repeat incidents) through automation, knowledge articles, root cause analysis and self-heal solutions

  • Work closely with other Colleagues to take on new services through ORR, SI, and ELS processes

  • Highlight potential risks and issues and make sure they get the appropriate visibility through the approved processes

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess essential skills in multiple technologies, such as Desktop, Collaboration, Virtual Desktop, Wintel, Hypervisor technology, Unix, Storage and Backup and be knowledgeable in at least one.

  • Detailed knowledge of any one of the above architecture.

  • Basic Foundation ITIL course with or without certification.

  • Accreditation in Desktop, Collaboration, Virtual Desktop, Wintel, Hypervisor technology, Unix, Storage and Backup will be added advantage.

    Education and Experience:

  • Science degree or a Diploma in Engineering related subjects desirable but not essential

  • ITIL qualifications desirable

  • 0-3 Yrs of relevant experience with more than one technology ie. Desktop, Collaboration, Virtual Desktop, Wintel, hypervisor technologies, Unix, Storage and Backup

  • 3 years relevant experience, at a detail level, in one technology ie, Desktop, Collaboration, Virtual Desktop, Wintel, hypervisor technologies, Unix, Storage and Backup
