As a Mechanical Engineer you can expect to:

+ Serve as a thought leader in development of Moog surveillance systems. Design complex custom systems that require creative evaluation of alternative solutions, identify risks and propose mitigation strategies associated with the design.

Here's what you'll work on:

+ Perform tasks involving the application, modification, adaptation of advanced engineering practices to optimize designs for performance, cost, manufacturability, reliability and life.

+ Prepare CAD models and initiate concepts / designs that are functional / practical and integrate these designs into complete products by utilizing creativity, innovation, and design expertise.

+ Direct design personnel in the successful completion of system designs through technical reviews, manufacturing interaction, vendor consultation, and effective manpower planning and control for new and established product models. Check and approve final designs prepared by others to assure functionality, feasibility, reliability, completeness and conformance with applicable standards.

+ Aid the overall effort toward internal and external customer satisfaction by initiating and implementing efforts to detect, solve and preclude the recurrence of design problems. Provide technical assistance to other departments, developing technical specifications for sales quotations, assisting the manufacturing groups in development of processing methods and procedures and assisting the service department in planning and executing field work.

+ Remain up to date on new and emerging technologies within area of technical expertise and serve as resource to other Moog employees.

+ Review supplier designs for functionality, feasibility, reliability, completeness and conformance with specifications.

+ Prepare, review and approve technical reports, proposals and presentations. Maintain technical data bank and design standards for product lines.

These are the skills you'll bring with you:

+ B.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited engineering school.

+ 8-12 years' experience with a strong preference in supporting products in an OEM facility.

+ Minimum of 5 consecutive years of experience with one employer preferred.

+ Progressive design experience of mechanical systems and products. Additional electrical system experience is a plus.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally as well as leading design efforts in concepting, analyzing and preparation of production drawings for assigned product line component designs and/or for the resolution of performance problems associated with those products.

+ Experience working across functional boundaries to solve problems, including direct interaction with internal & external customers involving problem solving and technical presentations.

+ High level of self-motivation and drive to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and fluid environment with proven critical thinking and diagnostic abilities.

+ Proficiency using MS Office software and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).

+ Experience with electro-mechanical systems and ositioning systems is a plus. The Custom Products Project Engineer will act as the project or systems engineer on bid and proposal efforts, a systems engineer post contract award, assisting the engineering team with the development of the production solution, and act as project manager from initial inception through delivery.
