Field Service Engineer

ColonialWebb is seeking mechanical engineering graduates who are interested in the “nuts and bolts” of large and complex mechanical equipment. As Field Service Engineer, you will provide technical support through start-up and commissioning services for ammonia refrigeration systems commonly found in food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities.

This position is ideal for those with a strong desire to understand how systems are designed and constructed. Individuals who enjoy building cars, computers, or mechanical systems are encouraged to apply!

Often, Field Service Engineers fall in love with commissioning because it allows them utilize their engineering background while providing onsite technical support for the start-up and commissioning of industrial refrigeration systems. Others move into design engineer roles or even sales engineering or project management positions. The Field Service Engineer position is a fantastic place to gain the valuable skills you’ll need to move throughout the industrial refrigeration industry.

Territory

  • Home base is our Norfolk, VA office (Industrial Refrigeration division headquarters).

  • Roughly 75% travel is expected.

  • Territory: Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as point of contact for start-up and commissioning of ammonia refrigeration systems and equipment.

  • Consult with customers, project managers, and refrigeration engineers through the commissioning process.

  • Learn about refrigeration piping systems and equipment associated with ammonia refrigeration systems for food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers in food processing, bottling, baking, warehousing and other industries associated with production, storage, packaging and distribution of food products.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or mechanical engineering technology).

  • Demonstrated skills, experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and PDF editing software.

  • Ability to handle a dynamic, evolving, and fast-paced workload under deadlines.

  • Strong analysis, problem solving and critical thinking skills and ability to interpret data.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
