Guideline Management is responsible for the implementation of client guidelines, regulatory restrictions and internal strategy rules in the compliance systems. You will be a part of a team that is vital in assisting our Portfolio Managers in efficient investing by ensuring that all trading restrictions are accurately coded in the compliance system. The team is responsible for initial restriction coding, ongoing rule maintenance and daily trade monitoring. The Guideline Management team interfaces with Portfolio Management, Compliance and/or Risk Management to resolve guideline exceptions as they occur.

The Funds Surveillance Team is part of the Guideline Management Team and specifically focused on the rules and regulations of the 1940Act Funds.This includes alert management (ensuring pre/post trade compliance with fund specific rules and regulations), new product/fund launches, and regulatory reporting.

Position Summary:

JPMorgan Asset Management Risk is looking to hire a staff member to join the Risk Operation team, focusing on account reviews and analysis. The team is responsible for coordinating and providing risk oversight for client accounts, ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are upheld. The candidate will review and analyze client accounts including agreed upon guideline restrictions, review account activity within and assess breaches that have occurred. The team partners with the broader Risk department, Operations, and Client and Portfolio managers.


  • Interpreting guidelines for automated compliance testing and monitoring

  • Reviewing new and existing rules to ensure compliance with account mandates

  • Working on projects with fixed deadlines, including fund and/or new product launches

  • Completing and reviewing reporting for various internal and external parties, including regulators

  • Reviewing preliminary fund guidelines with Portfolio Management and Compliance teams to assess testability and solution identified gaps

  • Liaising with Data Management and Technology teams to ensure testing is operating according to requirements

  • Interacting with Portfolio Managers and Investment Assistants to resolve any pre- & post-trade issue


Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of asset management business and different portfolio types

  • Strong analytical skills with understanding of cause and effect

  • Ability to work and solve problems independently, and proven track record for delivery

  • Attention to detail, strong organization and processing skills

  • Solid knowledge of financial products and investment strategies

  • Proficient with using Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Access and Excel

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good team player who can work well with colleagues of various levels
