Reporting to the Co-Directors of the Thompson Family Foundation Initiative (TFFI) and the Columbia Translational Neuroscience Initiative (CTNI), the Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring all aspects of the day‐to‐day administrative and operational activities of the TFFI/CTNI. The Program Manager is expected to provide rigorous and regular fiscal oversight of Units, Programs and Cores; to spearhead innovative research directions through Recruitment and Innovation Awards; to organize outreach through Symposia & Seminars; to coordinate communication with the Thompson Family Foundation, review of the program by Advisory Committees, and meetings of the Executive Committee; and to offer sound advice to the Co-Directors regarding all aspects of Initiative activities.

Program Management ? 70%

-Responsible for organizing outreach activities including but not limited to; Annual Symposium, bringing together distinguished investigators from around the world focused on CIPN, related neuropathies, and topics within our Scientific Themes. Seminar Series (at least 3 per year) in which leading authorities both from inside and outside Columbia will be invited to discuss their research. Lectures will be augmented with works-in-progress seminars (six per year), in which investigators, including junior members of the funded research teams, will present their ongoing research. Annual retreat to assess overall progress, and to make recommendations for adjusting the scope and focus of activities.

-Manage Innovation and Outreach Awards Program to support new, collaborative and high-risk / high reward research at Columbia University and affiliated institutions.

-Coordinate recruitment efforts for the Thompson Family Foundation Fellows Program that will recruit exceptional scientific talent to establish state-of-the-art research projects focused on CIPN.

-Provide administrative and fiscal oversight of Research Programs and Cores within the Basic Translational Research Unit and Clinical Translational Research Unit.

-Provide administrative and logistical arrangements for interviewing and recruitment of new TFFI/CTNI sponsored CUMC faculty.

-Continuously identifies opportunities to improve efficiencies, develop and implement pragmatic solutions, policies and procedures that improve workflow and services and reduce costs.

-Management of reporting deadlines to ensure that all technical and scientific progress reports are submitted in accordance with sponsor guidelines to the External Advisory Board.

Post Award and Financial Management ? 30%

-In conjunction with the Finance Coordinator, review monthly reconciliation and expense allocations of TFFI finances across projects, including Innovative and Outreach award accounts.

-Handle TFFI/CTNI related expenses, and payments to vendors and contractors ? management of Chart-string, P-card services, W9, Scope of Work, etc.

-Conduct quarterly faculty meetings to review grant progress and finances.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
