The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.

Overview

Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.

Department Description

The Fixed Income Financing (FIF) Product Control team is responsible for supporting the FIF sales and trading business. The business acts as a market maker, providing secured financing or collateral to 1000 clients across a diverse client base including Banks, Broker/ Dealers, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, etc. The desk also provides a critical internal utility function in managing funding and liquidity by funding long and short positions for IB Fixed Income desks. Globally, the business is the #1 player with a product offering including sovereigns, corporates, MBS’s, structured financings (>1 yr), and emerging markets financing.

The Product Control (PC) team is responsible for the balance sheet and capital reporting for the FIF business. The team produces daily, weekly and monthly analytics around balances sheet usage and capital. FIF is a balance sheet and capital intensive business and hence the team frequently work in an advisory capacity with the front office, providing critical analysis of both BS and capital to support profitability decisions as well as maximising efficiency. The business is also a larger player in determining the firm’s liquidity in a Stress framework. Other responsibilities include periodic external and regulatory reporting and spearheading numerous projects within the Balance sheet, Regulatory Capital, and Liquidity space. The suitable candidate will play an integral role in the team, providing essential control over the balance sheet reporting and analysis.

A sample of key responsibilities: The candidate must be a highly-motivated self-starter and able to shift focus of task with relative ease while remaining flexible in balancing workload in accordance with changing priorities. Ability to work effectively, meet challenging deadlines and to work under pressure.

  • Lead financial analysis including forecastingand reporting

  • Managing thequarterly / monthly forecasting process on Balance Sheet and Capital reporting.

  • Performing and review of RWA computations across multiple risk streamsfor the products traded by the FI Financing business.

  • Investigation and explainof business drivers underpinning significant movements in balance sheet and RWAfor senior management, LEC’s, Corporate Reporting, CIBT, front office etc.

  • Manage risk and controls and business communication

  • Implementingcontrols and best practices to ensure accurate financial and regulatory reporting.

  • To build in-depthknowledge of the fixed income system feeds to the balance sheet, liquidity andthe RWA calculation/credit infrastructure to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Opportunity togain exposure to changes in regulatory and accounting policy that in turnimpact the RWA computations and balance sheet reporting for the Firm andhelping manage any such change and impact to the FI Financing business.

  • Developingmaterials for business communications.

  • Support theglobal Balance sheet, Capital and Liquidity teams with wider deliverables andad-hoc projects as necessary.

  • Support other CIBLOBs in understanding the internal utility function that Fixed Income Financingperforms of their behalf and to help further the education agenda on resourceallocations for the same i.e. balance sheet and RWA

  • Leadership, development and management of NAteam of resources

Requirement:

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Degree qualified

  • Good financial product knowledge - fixedincome products would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of JPM reporting systems - FDW,Cognos, CRI, LRI would be an advantage.

  • Minimum of 7 years of business and financialmanagement experience.

  • Controls focussed, excellent problem solvingskills, sharp analytical/quantitative skills, with an eye for detail butfocused on the ‘big picture’.

  • Strong relationship building with provenexperience of collaborating with and influencing others across functions andlocations.

  • Stronginterpersonal skills and good communication skills.

  • Ability tomanage the priorities and deliverables.

  • Proficient inMicrosoft Excel and PowerPoint.
