Sodexo, A global leader in Quality of Life Services, has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President (VP) of Finance within the North America Hospitals Segment. The Vice President (VP) of Finance is an integral member of the regional segment leadership team, reporting to the North American Segment CEO, while receiving strong support and direction from the Global Segment Chief Financial Officer (CFO), to ensure that the financial aspects of the segment’s overall business strategy and performance objectives are achieved in North America.
Overall Accountabilities Include:
Delivery of financial performance (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with leverage obtained (tax and net interest expense) that allows for net income growth to be superior to annual operating profit growth.
Ensuring that all Group Finance policies, processes and procedures are consistently applied in the region.
Ensuring that the Finance functional budget is managed, optimized and controlled with cost efficiencies gained.
Ensuring that Finance talent management and succession plans are developed and maintained.
Ensuring that all risks are anticipated and identified and transparently addressed.
Ensuring improvement of performance on established people-metrics including engagement, retention, development and productivity.
More specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing financial and strategic leadership and partnership that supports profitable growth and performance.
Contributing to Regional financial leadership in shaping the North American Finance Function to support attainment of the Region and Global hospital segment’s goals and ambitions.
Providing strong commercial expertise, financial engineering and contractual acumen developed through an in-depth understanding of the segment’s specific needs and providing financial support to the business development and retention processes by providing leadership and insights with the negotiation of complex deals, ensuring the Segment’s profitable growth by ensuring contractual terms and protections.
Ensuring financial discipline in regional investment decisions.
Supporting the overall performance of the segment in the region and driving key segment initiatives, including ensuring adequate follow-up between Hospitals and Service Operations.
Ensuring all Group Finance policies, processes and procedures are known, understood and consistently applied in support of achieving the Group’s Financial objectives (Maintaining the financial independence of the Group, and enhancing the attractiveness of Sodexo’s stock to loyal, long-term investors by promoting profitable and sustainable growth); ensuring the Group Finance function’s mission is delivered.
Providing challenge and playing a role as custodian of the Group’s assets and resources
Ensuring segments’ needs are balanced with the need for achieving sound financial results and proactive risk management
Managing financial performance: profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow ratios, treasury and tax affairs
Representing the company with external auditors, insurance brokers, banks, public / fiscal authorities when appropriate
Partnering with all dimensions (decision support, contracting, negotiation, and performance) – particularly providing functional support and subject matter expertise to meet the needs of segment managers (e.g. bid proposals, costing, CDM, analytics, mobilization, SOP implementation, developing action plans, client interface)
Ensuring timely provision of strong, accurate and relevant analytics (data and analysis) transparently to all stakeholders
Active involvement in the business performance review/rolling forecast process
Involvement in the regional Investment and contracting Stage gate approval process (decision process on contracts, tangible and intangible investments) and follow-up on delivery of associated ROI
Ensuring efficient data capture and application to meet the needs of the Group; with Finance serving as the ‘guardian’ of one Master Data management Architecture - consistent with Group MDM
Ensuring efficient and effective financial transactional services and accounting on all business processes (Contract to Cash, Hire to Retire, Purchase to Pay, Record to Report…)
Simplifying procedures to reduce administrative burden, and driving efficiency to decrease operating costs
Ensuring a control environment, risk management and internal control framework permitting effective identification and management of financial risks, with remediation alerts and escalation as necessary
Leading the continuous professionalization of Finance community in country and identifying/ developing functional talent, ensuring leadership development and succession plans are in place for key positions (in line with established Group HR processes)
Approving the nomination and termination of key Finance positions (in compliance with established processes and reporting lines)
Are you the one?
Our selected candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of related professional experience in Finance with demonstrated ongoing increased responsibility. Fluency in other languages, an MBA, CPA or other advanced credentials is a plus.
This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, the ability to effectively partner with senior management, peers, and more junior roles within in the organization, a demonstrated ability to partner with business operations to drive profitable growth, strong financial and commercial acumen, proven experience with acquisitions as well as contractual/risk management discipline, with proven ability to interact with clients in an international environment.
In addition, the qualified candidate should have experience managing change and the ability to lead within an environment of continuous evolution and improvement.
Location and Travel:
The selected candidate may reside anywhere within the U.S. near a major airport. Central and East Coast Locations are highly preferred. This position will require approximately 40% travel.
Provides leadership and strategic direction for all financial aspects within a growing business segment. Acts as business partner to the Division President. Responsible for the development and training of the financial team. This is the top financial position in a high growth business segment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 10 years
Basic Functional Experience - 7 years in accounting or finance
