The Position

Legal Secretaries perform specialized secretarial duties for attorneys, administrative law judges, and/or hearings officers.

The Nevada Transportation Authority is recruiting for a Legal Secretary II to support the Administrative Attorney, Chairman, Commissioners, and staff. The position is located in our Las Vegas office. The selected candidate will perform technical and diversified legal and administrative secretarial duties, must possess knowledge of legal terminology, the ability to format, prepare and type legal documents in final format according to Agency requirements from rough draft, electronic documents, audio recordings, or notes. The incumbent will prepare from the Administrative Attorney's notes and direction the Agenda Orders regarding the findings and resulting judgment of the Commissioners for all citations and impound hearings. The incumbent will update the Agency calendar regarding the scheduling of citation and impound hearings. The selected candidate will maintain, update, and manage the docket database regarding applications and other filings, and will copy and distribute all completed investigations, reports and other documentation to appropriate NTA staff. The selected candidate will also maintain, update, and manage the investigations database regarding citations, impounds and other investigative activities.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of clerical experience, two of which were performing progressively responsible legal secretarial work in a training capacity; OR one year of experience as a Legal Secretary I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

The Examination

If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).

LEGAL SECRETARY II (02.153) Written Exam

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
