JOB SUMMARY The Instructional Designer II (Designer) serves in a development/design capacity for the creation of asynchronous online courses. The ideal candidate for this position has experience creating online courses from the point of inception through delivery, including instructional graphic design skills. Additionally, this position will also serve as a quality assurance reviewer for online courses to ensure that instructional design standards are followed. In the course of quality assurance activities, the expectation is that feedback and guidance will be provided to course authors for correction of variances from design standards.

Some design and development of live training delivery materials may also fall under the umbrella of activities/expectations.

The position requires a basic understanding of adult learning principles, needs analysis, course development, and training program implementation.

The Designer has primary responsibility for the development of lesson plans, training modules, and HealthStream courses. The Designer will be responsible for reviewing content, providing training, and ensuring that the training methods meet the needs of the end users. In collaboration with project leadership, HCA business owners, and division leadership, the Instructional Designer II creates and maintains educational content.

The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and adult learning tactics. Ability to utilize intermediate features of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel techniques in developing course materials is also required. The Designer must also possess effective interpersonal skills that foster strong working relationships. He or she must be able to proactively communicate and collaborate with teammates, IT&S, Parallon, Division, Facility leadership, and various SMEs to understand and address decisions, issues, and question and to complete project deliverables. This position is critical in achieving compliance and operational goals.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Design, develop and update content-specific, competency-based education programs, in conjunction with technical and compliance experts from the field and corporate departments with moderate interactivity

Participate in development of process improvements and revision of standards/templates used by Learning Solutions.

Collaborate with LS solutions team members and business owners to determine best solution to fit targets for time, quality and requirements fulfillment. Solution planning should be comprehensive, representing fulfillment of complete learner needs even if development plan/timeline is incremental.

Intermediate Proficiency with standards and technology for QA.

Communicate project status within the department, with other department representatives, and with higher organizational levels; provide formal status reporting on a periodic basis to management staff as requested. Contribute to intra-departmental teams.

Review course evaluations to ensure continuous improvement of training materials and program. Coordinate with Senior staff to develop and implement course revision plans to improve outcomes.

College Graduate preferred

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Ideal candidate will have a basic healthcare background with experience in specific IT applications • Experience managing individual projects preferred. • Graphic design experience required • Intermediate Instructional Design Experience / WBT (Web Based Training) development • Self-directed and motivated.
• Intermediate knowledge of the clinical operation processes in a healthcare environment. • Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and common software packages.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Intermediate Web-based authoring tool experience. • Excellent ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Demonstrated ability to perform in a team setting and to interact effectively with Corporate Business process teams, Facility Administration, Division/Group Administration, and Facility personnel.
