Under general direction, responsible for all aspects of the analytics to inform the development of the data models for the next generation Enterprise Data Warehouse, and to ensure that the solutions developed meet Vanderbilt University Medical Center end user / customer needs. Gathers and integrates appropriate data, conducts analyses, chooses appropriate output, and communicates findings effectively with both the project team, and the project sponsors and external customers. Ensures adherence to the highest of quality standards and maintains project documentation. The candidate will work in in a fast-paced, results oriented environment, and must have excellent communication, analytical and business intelligence solutions development skills.
Key Functions andExpected Performances:
Demonstrates ability to define and interpret businessrequirements in collaboration with the product manager for complexanalysis and data integration projects.
Aggregate data from different sources and performanalysis as per business requirements.
Able to identify potential problems through advancedanalysis techniques and develop appropriate test cases to assure effectivetesting of the application.
Form hypotheses, then analyze data to independentlytest the ideas
Work with data architects to translate requirementsinto technical specifications and assist in data and output validation
Communicate the analytical results to team members andsuggest implications and potential next steps
Maintain comprehensive documentation of businessprocesses, analytics design, measure definitions, data integration andusability to assist with the development of enterprise level data conceptsand metadata.
Work closely with other members of the EDW and ITteams, as well as business stakeholders, to understand the relationbetween data elements and business processes.
Demonstrates good understanding of functional businessprocesses, and ways in which data structure and quality can support suchprocesses.
Data Analysis andQuality Assurance
Can design a logical data model or object model ofsimple to moderate complexity, and to interpret data models designed bythe data architect on the team.
Is able to document a data model in a data dictionaryor repository.
Demonstrates good understanding of ETL processes andinterpretation of structured data models.
Identifies redundant data objects and data items thatcan be re-used across applications. Identifies data transformationrequirements, and can identify data gaps in data or object models andrecommend appropriate changes.
Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, andexperience to be capable of successfully designing a testing strategy perbusiness requirements, and modeled UDMH solutions, without requiring supportand instruction from others, so as to ensure that the outcomes of themodel meet VUMC customer expectations.
Able to learn new / complex concepts quickly, and toeffectively communicate about technical concepts with other stakeholdersin the organization.
Work with several large and complex SQL databases anddevelop ad-hoc reports when necessary. Basic SQL knowledge is preferred.
Demonstrate good team building and leadership skills.
Ability to work with multiple subject areas simultaneously.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovativeenvironment
Assist in planning of the testing and validationprocesses, and analytic projects, and monitor performance againstestablished plans
Passionate about hospitals and healthcare industry, andabout solving problems with the use of appropriate data and information(Prior experience in hospitals or healthcare is strongly preferred but isnot mandatory).
Extremely strong problem solving skills with theability to break down a complex multi-factorial problem into discreetsteps, determine the analytics needed to solve each step, then createoutputs to help drive action.
Knowledge of and experience with Epic data and systemsis preferred.

Minimum Experience: 2Year(s) of Experience
Healthcare experience preferred but not mandatory
SQL experience preferred
Experience with the Unified Data Model for Healthcare(UDMH) Preferred
