Summary of Duties: Directs the strategy, design, implementation, and support of the data model and associated data warehouse for both clinical research and clinical practice data. The candidate will provide technical guidance on BI solutions, acting as a technical lead for design, development and support. The candidate will perform data modeling and detailed requirements analysis for all development projects. The candidate will also be responsible for defining and driving the use of reporting standards across the enterprise. The candidate will assess detailed business requirements for operational, analytic and executive reporting to design, develop and support business intelligence solutions. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, be able to operate within ambiguity, and demonstrate flexible and intuitive communication skills and a willingness to mentor others.


Duties include but are not limited to:

Help build a highly motivated team of Business Intelligence Engineers that deliver innovative reporting solutions to timely and successful conclusions while adhering to standards, quality and deadlines

Partner with Data Integration Architect to provide an overarching Data Architecture Strategy for Data Warehouse Design, Services Oriented Architecture Design, and the overall Information Architecture Implementation.

Recommend an optimal information architecture, technology infrastructure, and change management and security processes for the reporting environments;

Identify and assist correcting BI performance bottlenecks and debug application or data content related issues

Develop and drive the implementation of management reporting best practices and standards for the team.

Participate in the development and support of reporting solutions including program modifications, performance tuning, problem solving, debugging, and unit testing.

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 5 years of experience with developing .NET Web applications in C# and XML

5 years of experience with developing database connectivity, including ODBC, JDBC

3 year of experience with SQL Server Integration Services

Experience with Mobility platforms such as iOS or HTML5

Experience with Reporting tools such as SQL Reporting Services and Microsoft Power BI

Skilled in data administration, data modeling and tuning, and ensuring development teams have the optimum environment in which to deliver applications to include indexing strategies, database layout, and loading / updating strategies

EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE Health, life sciences and or pharmaceutical experience desirable

Experience in the complete data warehouse project life cycle is required (requirements gathering, architecture, design, implementation, and tuning) Strong data modeling experience and key understanding of relational database development including the ability to write and tune SQL queries on large database systems

• Specialty in developing data warehouses based on large-scale (200 Gigabytes to multi-terabytes) source databases

• Significant experience in the process of extracting data from multiple sources including a data warehouse environment

• Experience in creating data warehouse frameworks and performance tuning of a data warehouse

• Capable in performance optimization and tuning with reporting applications/solution
