This is an entry-level position within Siemens’ Rail Automation Engineering Technician department at either our Pittsburgh, PA or Louisville, KY facilities. This position is to support engineering efforts. By creating test fixturing, whether they are as simple as wired switches to connectors, or as complex as computer controlled test equipment, create and assemble engineering prototypes per specifications from the engineering department, and travel to customer sites for installation, troubleshooting, and perform testing activities on various products.
Delivery schedules of the project will dictate the schedule of the engineering technician activities. Completions of assigned tasks within the schedule given are imperative to the success of the project.
All tasks will be coordinated with the Engineering Technician supervisor and filter to the group. Any conflicts in scheduling between projects within engineering will be resolved through the Manager of Electrical Engineering.
• Maintains project submittal log
• Create and/or append Bill of Materials
• Create part number requests
• Assists with tag generation
• Performs circuit continuity and tag check
• Assists with breakdown testing
• Modify design drawings using CADD and/or Drafting Standards
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
Associate's degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training preferred. HS diploma or equivalent required. Experience with CADD (AutoCAD/Microstation) and reading electrical schematics or blueprints. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of a technical or specialty area. Generally, up to 2 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities an knowledge as presented above.
