BAE Systems Estimator Sr in Mobile, Alabama

SUMMARY

Coordinate, develop, compile, and submit detailed information required to provide complete and comprehensive estimate of all labor, material, and subcontractor costs within a particular craft(s).

SAFETY/ENVIRONMENT/ETHICS

Leader and Initiator in Safety. Ensures team compliance with all company & OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards; and environmental and ethical requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Advocates Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).

Review and evaluate bid specifications, drawings (blueprints) and related reference.

Establish preliminary make/buy strategy.

Complete detailed takeoffs, develop detailed labor (by craft) and material/subcontractor costs.

Review and analyze Subcontractor and Vendor quotes to assure quoted price, scope and terms comply with schedule and specifications.

Identify major material, subcontract items and solicit pricing.

Review, maintain and analyze historical job cost data to develop and support estimating standards.

Communicate with Production, Purchasing, Sales and vendors to determine, discuss and verify costs.

Perform ship checks and meet with customers.

Identify clarifications that represent the quoted scope of work and have potential impact on projected cost, contract administration, negotiation and delivery schedule.

Identify and impose intermediate deadlines to support overall goal of completing estimate and submitting to price proposal on required date.

Be cognizant of current rules, regulations and standard practices of regulatory bodies, classification societies and the marine industry.

Must be physically able to access and tour all spaces on board vessels and within BAE Systems facilities.

Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Basic knowledge of all aspects of ship repair and conversion, including vessel types, systems and components. Knowledge of offshore vessels and drilling rigs a plus.

Skills in repair and conversion estimating for ships machinery and systems. Skills in other ship repair and conversion disciplines are a plus.

Proficient PC skills with spreadsheets in Windows software.

Ability to maintain relationships with all levels of Company personnel, potential customers and vendors.

Must be a self-starter, team player, thorough and organized.
