Role Summary:

The Product Engineer and Manager is directly responsible for the overall growth and profitability of the TonkaFlo Pump and Housing product lines. You will own the Multi-Generation Product Plans (MGPP), and develop short and long range revenue growth plans and competitive strategies for the product line on a global basis. The Product Manager also leads long term planning and defining the overall business strategy for the Pump and Housing products.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Product Engineer and Manager - Pumps and Housings, you will:

  • Oversee the total product life cycle utilizing a multi-generational product plan (or Growth Product Playbook), interacting with Technology, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales and Technical Marketing to drive product platform improvements, differentiation, penetration and market expansion

  • Design custom multistage centrifugal pump assemblies using the base product family as a template

  • Create custom bills of material, drawings, routings and material master to support custom factory order requirements

  • Support sales, custom engineering and manufacturing in developing ideas for improvements and new products. Develop tooling, equipment and processes to support production operations

  • Develop growth and competitive strategies for the product on a global basis

  • Develop concepts for new products by collecting and analyzing internal and external customer feedback, market research, emerging technology, and competitive trends. Directly own the product portfolio and drive the process of NPI’s and their final launch into the marketplace

  • Technically support activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and documentation of product designs

  • Interface with designers to create drawings as required

  • Coordinate activities concerned with pump costing analysis, process and design reviews, assembly, testing, and resolution of problems with equipment in the field

  • Work to develop and execute launch plans to bring new product introductions to the market and sales account managers by working closely with the Commercial Operations, Product Marketing, Technology and Supply Chain teams

  • Establish and deliver short and long term sales growth and profitability improvement targets

  • Develop and coordinate execution plans to drive improvement

  • Track material cost, revenue, fulfillment and CM rates by product, product family, market segment, and by geographic region

  • Interact regularly with commercial leaders, supporting them on high priority opportunities

  • Drive market awareness of products through external marketing efforts such as publications, customer training, and customer seminars

  • Determine list pricing structure, implement price adjustments and execute the DOA for customized price exceptions

  • Work closely with Commercial Engineering team on price exception levels of authority, pricing targets, and execution of product line pricing policy

  • Develop, manage and implement product forecasts and targeted product stocking strategies with Sales, PSI and Supply Chain

  • Provide direction and support for the creation of sales tools, launch materials and collaterals with Product Marketing resources

  • Attend and help plan customer/product shows and events

  • Stay closely connected with Technology, Sales and Technical Marketing to maintain a deep knowledge of current product and market developments, in addition to identifying opportunities for new market penetration. Continually evolve product line related Growth Playbook segments

  • Work closely with manufacturing, sourcing and engineering to address daily tactical engineering issues, such as pump or housing modifications for new business, vendor issues and part substitutions, and other factory related troubleshooting

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering / Science discipline such as Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or related technical discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, customer and/or vendor relations, sales, application engineering, product management and/or marketing

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability and willingness to travel 35% of the time, as required

  • Global customer and competition experience in water and waste water markets

  • Demonstrated ability to create a vision, a strategy around this vision, and drive a plan to execute

  • Proven success in developing and leveraging cross-functional and cross-business relationships; ability to work with cross-functional teams to build effective processes

  • Strong analytical and computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Sales experience

  • Global customer and competition experience in water treatment products
