Are you a passionate, dedicated and a motivated Senior Program Manager looking for a new challenge?

The incumbent will be a member of the Medtronic Business Services (MBS) Strategy team, working directly with the MBS Business Partners and the VP of MBS Strategy to plan and execute business process improvement projects. The focus of the role will be on traditional project management, and coordination of cross-functional project teams. The Senior MBS Project Manager will work on challenging initiatives that are among the function’s top priorities, will have exposure at senior levels of the organization, and will have significant impact on the Medtronic organization.

This position reports to the Senior Director, MBS Program Management.

A Day in the Life

  • Work with MBS Business Partners in collaboration with our function partners to plan and execute process improvement and productivity initiatives

  • Lead major project work streams within large improvement programs and/or lead improvement programs with key partners:

  • Actively lead the development and execution of project plans including schedules, budgets, resources, and anticipated benefits

  • Define project resource requirements and negotiate team assignments with functional managers, as required

  • Schedule, prepare and facilitate working team operating mechanisms, ensuring that SMEs and other team members are productively engaged in the process

  • Maintain oversight of project risks and mitigation plans to ensure business and project objectives are met

  • Challenge teams to meet and exceed project goals and commitments

  • Provide routine project status communications to senior leadership

  • Act with flexibility and persistence

  • Work independently as needed with only limited direction to help functions and teams that need support; establish relationships and develop a project plan, calling on the broader MBS team as needed

  • Work with other MBS resources (e.g., Vendor Management, Finance, Lean Sigma) to bring specialized capabilities in support of teams to maximize the impact of improvement initiatives

  • Work with Communications and change management resources to build stakeholder maps, and to engage the broader organization to socialize and build support for project recommendations

  • Build the MBS brand and reputation for rigor, collaboration and excellence

  • Travel requirement:20-30%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or a technical discipline

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of general work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

  • 1+ years of cross-functional project management experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Experience with Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards

  • Experience providing work direction, coaching and guidance to project teams

  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • PMP, Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred

  • Prior consulting experience

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Experience with business process improvement, offshoring/outsourcing initiatives, or shared services operations

  • Proven success in executing projects resulting in measurable productivity enhancement

  • Confident and assertive style, but respectful of others

  • Must be team oriented and able to adjust leadership style to maximize effectiveness
