The Engine Software Strategist (SWS) will lead the Controller System Team (CST) hardware/software integration and verification activities to ensure all requirements and deliverables are met on-time with "world's best" quality. They also exercise technical direction over engineering support personnel both internally (GM) and externally (Supplier) assigned to a given engine controller(s).

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead engine software integration and verification testing project for assigned engine controller(s)
  • Train, develop, mentor and evaluate technical capability of team members
  • Lead development of software content plan and anomaly correction activities
  • Execute Controls Process of Engineering, ensure deliverables at Vehicle Development Process (VDP) and/or Global Powertrain Development Process (GPDP) program gates are provided as required
  • Foster & document Best Practices to ensure high quality and reduce development lead time.
  • Support controller sourcing activities
  • Actively manage controller resources
  • Support EGM in defining, managing and prioritizing allocated resources to complete tasks
  • Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Performs complex software design analysis
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Stays abreast of new technology, debugging & instrumentation tools, microprocessors and software development processes
  • Travels as required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Candidate is required to have one of the following engineering degrees: BSE, BS / MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.
  • 8 or more years of experience in job-related area
  • At least 5 years of experiencedeveloping microprocessor-based, real-time control algorithms and software with programing languages (C/C++, Assembly, Perl, Java), operating systems (Unix, Linux, RTOS for embedded system) and instrumentation (INCA, in circuit emulators, DSPACE)
  • Experience in program tracking of embedded controls or software development programs
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
