Embedded Controller Lead Design System Engineer (DSE) for Battery System Manager (BSM) - Lead the Controller System Team (CST) hardware/software integration and verification activities for the Global-A BSM controller to ensure all requirements and deliverables are met on-time with "world's best" quality.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Execute Controller Process of Engineering (CPoE); ensure deliverables for Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and Global Powertrain Development Process (GPDP) are met
  • Provide technical direction to other engineers or engineering support personnel
  • Train, mentor and develop technical capability of team members
  • Initiate and evaluate trade off studies and product suggestions
  • Plan and implement complex test and/or development initiatives
  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products, Recommend future controller and ECU architectures to leverage available technologies
  • Foster & document Best Practices to ensure high quality and reduce development lead time.
  • Chair and manage the Global-A BSM Controller Execution Team
  • Support the EGM in defining, managing and prioritizing allocated resources to complete tasks.
  • Develop and support initiatives to meet product quality targets
  • Investigate and respond to PRTS issues within the required time frame
  • Champion implementation of new processes and tools within the CST

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Degree EE, ME or CE/CS Engineering required
  • Black Belt required
  • Knowledge and 5+ years of experience in Embedded Controls
  • Knowledge and experience with ECU controller and data file release process
  • Knowledge and experience in Control system hardware/software implementation, integration and test
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Project Management
  • Knowledge of electronic module development, manufacturing, and test
  • Knowledge of hardware design and failure modes in electronic modules using software control systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and serial data communications (GMLAN, LIN)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with system/software/hardware requirements development and validation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Global environment
  • Results driven individual with high levels of initiative, urgency and thoroughness
  • High degree of Program Management skills
  • High level of analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Good business acumen and organizational savvy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree EE, ME or CE/CS Engineering preferred
  • Experience with electrification vehicle battery controls
  • 5+ years of experience developing microprocessor-based real-time controls in high level (C) language
  • Experience using RTC, GDM, VCDM, GDFRS
  • Experience with Simulink, Stateflow, software code generation, ETAS and Vector Tools
