Calibration engineers work with vehicles, software and algorithms to design

and release calibrations to meet customer design and performance

requirements. They support the lead calibrator and diagnostic strategist, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, manufacturing plant and quality team. They ensure powertrain integration to vehicles perform at world class levels to meet program objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Propulsion integration calibration specialists are integrally involved in the development of calibrations which support control functions and diagnostic capability of systems such as Electronic Regulated Fuel Systems and Active Aero Shutters.

  • Create calibration development plans to meet program timing
  • Execute vehicle calibrations procedures to develop vehicle performance and diagnostic calibrations
  • Develop quality calibrations with support from Standard Work guidelines and procedures
  • Utilize calibration test tools such as INCA, ETAS, Vehicle Spy
  • Maintain documentation supporting the content of their calibration
  • Leadcalibration procedure enhancements and readily shares lessons learned
  • Optimize calibrations through data collection and analysis to meet program requirements
  • Design, conduct peer reviews, and post calibrations to support interim and production milestone events
  • Document calibration changes during the vehicle development process in a change log

  • Coordinate calibration activities with Vehicle and Powertrain personnel to

maximize resource efficiency

  • Perform root cause analysis of vehicles issues such as ondurability & validation vehicles

  • Confirm that new software features integrate with control system to meet

  • functionality requirements

  • Perform root cause analysis and error correction of system level problems

relating to calibration, controls, hardware, software, and architecture

  • Lead or actively participate in calibration peer reviews

  • Actively participate in Technical Review Board meetings

  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products

  • Execute Diagnostic Operation Evaluation tests and review

  • Create and maintain master calibration files and post appropriately

Required Skills and Experience :

  • BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of powertrain systems
  • Understanding of complex systems
  • Mechanical and controls aptitude
  • Understanding of data acquisition and analysis
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
