Kelly Services Analytical Technologist working in Plant in Midland, Michigan
Kelly Services is seeking an Analytical Technologist for our client, a global chemical company that supports the Latex and Plastics industry, in Midland, Michigan. This position is a contract to hire position where the contract length will be determined based on performance and business needs.
The Analytical Technologist will focus within a single or across multiple plant laboratories by performing non-routine and routine complex analyses. The qualified individual will ensure the effective operation of analytical systems and the lab’s adherence to ODMS.
Position is working Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Assure the quality of analytical data provided to produce and release products. Implement and verify the performance of new equipment. Effective delivery of timely accurate analytical results by the lab including:
Sample submission process for routine and non-routine analyses Calibrated and maintained equipment Sample analysis Data capture and management Information Technology tool management Sample and inventory management Documented EH&S and ODMS procedures
Route analytical requests to the appropriate service provider. Implement response plans for requests. Schedule and perform work according to the Sample Plan, maintenance and QC schedules. Schedule and perform advanced calibrations and maintenance of analytical systems. Perform in-depth troubleshooting of analytical systems. Monitor analytical systems, evaluate validity of data, apply statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action. Document, communicate, and archive analytical results, calibration and maintenance data Perform first line troubleshooting of laboratory data handling systems. Monitor and maintain calibration standards and consumable items. Manage raw material and product retain samples. Help troubleshoot plant and customer problems. Implement and verify the performance of new equipment. Assist in adapting and implementing laboratory IT and data handling systems to the needs of the unit. Network with others to leverage technology, and problem solving and prevention. Continuously improve EH&S and analytical performance. Participate in reviews to identify opportunities to optimize the number of analyses performed on-line and in the lab. Compression and Injection molding of test and customer samples.
Associates degree, BS degree or higher education in Chemistry or plastics related science field. 2+ years in a technical and /or plant related role. Mechanical aptitude desired. Some physical labor expected.
Qualified candidates outside the Midland Michigan area must be willing to interview and relocate at their own expense. Target start dates for most positions are 2-3 weeks post interview. Once submitted for a position, hiring managers typically interview within 5-10 business days.
