Job Description: The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically. The candidate will work within the EO Mechanical Design Department. Specific responsibilities may include: - Conceptual or detail mechanical design of airborne hardware - Design or build of tooling and fixtures - Designing and running engineering tests including thermal testing, vibration testing, and servo testing - Vendor coordination and management optical measurements and metrology - Optical alignment - Engineering support of a production factory The chosen candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates will be expected to provide recommendations to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions: This position can be a Salary Grade of N85, N95 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position. • N85 (College Junior by Fall 2017) - must have completed 60 hours of college • N95 (College Senior by Fall 2017) - must have completed 90 hours of college • NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2017) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program Required Skills: - Must have hands on lab experience - The candidate must be available for a minimum of ten weeks between May and October - Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2017 - Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance Desired Skills: - Solid Modeling training or coursework using 3D CAD software tools - Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects - Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying) Required Education (including major): Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an accredited four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2017.
