Accounting & Finance Development Program

Are you looking to begin your accounting and finance career? TDS is looking for bright and motivated soon-to-be or recent college graduates looking to accelerate their career as part of our Accounting & Finance Development Program. This is a high-visibility program, supported by senior leadership across the enterprise.

As a program participant, you will rotate through a series of four different roles in the first two years of your career with the TDS family of companies, which includes U.S. Cellular, TDS Telecom, and TDS Corporate. Mobility between Madison, WI and Chicago, IL is required.

The rotations will provide you with both depth and breadth of experiences in different accounting & finance functions across the enterprise. The program focuses on providing you with a strong foundation in accounting & finance roles, as well as on your development as a business professional.

Areas of rotation may include:

  • Accounting and Reporting

  • Revenue Recognition

  • Financial Analysis and Strategic Planning

  • General & Operational Accounting

  • Internal Audit

  • Finance & Real Estate

In addition to technical experience, you will also receive significant personal attention and mentorship from the program leader and other senior leaders who will help guide you through the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Strong academic background

  • Internship or related work experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • Eligibility to sit for the CPA or other relevant certification or designation based on education (i.e. CFA, CIA, CTP, CFP)

  • Mobility between Madison, WI and Chicago, IL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of general accounting and auditing principles and standards

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply learnings to new situations and decisions

  • Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges

  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact persuasively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently and on teams

  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under aggressive time constraints, and prioritize multiple projects

  • Detail oriented with an emphasis on accuracy

  • Exercises in diligence and a sense of urgency in completing work activities

  • Integrity, consistency and predictability with performance

  • High enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
