CompuCom Network Engineer in Lynnwood, Washington
The Network Operations Center is responsible for ensuring the maximum possible service availability (uptime) and optimum performance for customer facing and internal networks while providing world-class customer service and support.
We are looking to recruit a Network Engineer . Ideal candidates will have some commercial experience working as a Network Engineer, but it is more important to have the aptitude and skills needed to fulfill this role while the more experienced members of the team help to impart the knowledge and confidence required for the position.
We interact frequently with Technical Support, Managed Support, Service Provisioning, Compliance, and Sales teams. Excellent communication skills are essential to communicate ideas and information to people from a non-technical background. We also work very closely with the Design and Engineering teams and as such need to have a good all-round understanding of networks and systems.
Network Engineers must develop a solid understanding of company products and processes, must be keen to learn and able to use their experience and initiative to tackle a broad range of problems to contribute to growing success.
We provide 24x7 support for our key ISP services requiring flexibility for both planned and unplanned out of hours work as required.
Ensure stable and reliable ISP network services (e.g. access products, service networks and core network)
Day-to-day network performance monitoring
Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair
Trouble ticket generation and response; carrier interface and escalations
Deployment and maintenance of network monitoring, analysis and reporting tools
Application of configuration changes via change control systems and processes
Installation of network hardware and software
Participate in a 24x7 team environment
Participate in an on-call rotation
Experience working on network equipment in an ISP environment, a large NOC or other such company associated with networking
CCNP certified or equivalent level of knowledge
Basic understanding of the following technologies: IP Protocols (ICMP, UDP, TCP, IPV4, IPV6); IP filtering and firewalling; Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS); Quality of Service; MPLS; Ethernet (STP, RSTP, VLANs)
Basic understanding of AAA platforms such as Radius and/or TACACS
2 + years' experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, and Firewalls. CCNP certified or equivalent level of knowledge
Experience with Juniper, Foundry, Brocade, Client Procurve, and Dell PowerEdge devices preferred
Familiarity with work in a data center environment
Knowledge fiber and WDM systems
Basic Linux / UNIX skills preferred
Ability to analyze problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery
Clear communicator (written and verbal)
Capable of prioritizing and managing own workload
Capable of working / using initiative with minimal supervision
Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge and help others develop
Interest in leading edge technologies to develop skills and knowledge
