The Nielsen Company Data Science Associate in Lugano, Switzerland

The Europe methods team within Data Science’s Audience Measurement Methods organization focuses on applying and enhancing Nielsen’s highly successful products out in the marketplace for digital advertising and content measurement. In addition to defining and designing product methodologies, Measurement Scientists also design research studies to support and validate innovative measurement solutions, and lead the development and maintenance of new models to integrate different data sources. The European methods team is focused also on Television Audience Measurement support in terms of panel sample evaluation and developing new measurement process.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop, test, and refine data models using multiple types of data for various purposes such as imputation and data correction

· Work with cross-functional teams to design, implement and test new consumer and audience measurement methodologies

· Integrate multiple data sources into consolidated analyses and measures

· Identify new opportunities for enhancing our product offerings, such as by adding different data sources or additional demographic segments

· Document new methodologies and best practices

· Stay informed of new research and developments in the field


This position requires a detail-oriented person who has experience in data modeling research and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and see the big picture are keys to success in this position.

· Bachelor’s in statistics, economics, quantitative social sciences, mathematics with analytical expertise and technical leadership

· Knowledge about trend analyses, multivariate statistics (parametric/ non-parametric), sampling, bias reduction, indirect estimation, automation, machine learnings

· Experience working with large datasets

· Experience working in at least one statistical language such as SAS, R

· Experience working in at least one computer programming language such as SQL or Python

· Good communication skills (written and verbal)

· Experience working in teams

· Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
