SUMMARY:In this role, you will contribute to our Aerodynamics analysisefforts. As part of the Flight Dynamics team, you'll be responsible fortesting, understanding and characterizing the aerodynamics and handlingqualities of the Dream Chaser lifting body spacecraft through multiple flightregimes from orbit to landing. You will contribute to database updates,combining data from several sources and quantifying uncertainties. You willlead efforts to resolve data anomalies. Further, you'll be responsible forverifying and validating the databases and documenting the results. The future of space transportation is now.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Contribute to definition of datarequirements, test objectives, instrumentation and model specificationsfor CFD simulations, wind tunnel and flight testingContribute to TestReadiness Reviews for wind tunnel and flight tests, participate intesting, and reduce the dataPost-process wind tunnel data (high and lowspeed), with corrections for scaled-model to flight conditionsEvaluatealternative architectures for large aerodynamic and aerothermal databases,and make recommendationsDevelop aerodynamic uncertainties from CFD, windtunnel testing, analytical models and flight testsDocument databaseupdates, with verification and validationAnalyze aerodynamic impacts due toexternal modifications, loads impacts due to external and internalmodificationsPrepare and execute flight testing for aircraft / spacecraftperformance and handling qualitiesAct as an expert resource to the FlightDynamics team for statistical modeling, error propagation, estimation andsystem identification, data smoothing, curve fitting, and interpolationmethodsSupport development and testing of the Dream Chaser flush air datasystemManage the outer mold line (OML) of each Dream Chaser airframe toensure flight configurations are accurately captured in the aerodynamicdataManage the Linux-based high-performance computing clustersADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Follow SNC policies, procedures andwork instructions for all technical activitiesPunctuality to work each day andprepared to work scheduled work hoursOther duties as assignedCOMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNCPolicies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal andexternal)Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-relatedactivities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, SalaryReviews, Succession Planning, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, asdefined by managementSNC job descriptions are meant as summaries only.
