As part of our web development team, WDEs are in constant touch with our business owners and play a big role in contributing to business decisions. This role will be based in Amazon’s Development centre in London.
+ + Degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrable experience as a web developer or a similar role.
Experience building scalable, rich, usable web interfaces and an understanding of design for performance, security and scalability, including client-side profiling and performance optimization.
Strong experience developing AJAX and rich user interfaces using the latest third party frameworks and libraries (Angular.js, Backbone.js, Bootstrap, node.js, JQuery, etc).
Strong knowledge of usability principles, turning mockups into polished interactive and semantic web pages (including cross-browser compatibility, graceful degradation and responsive design).
Comfortable working in teams, welcoming and seeking ideas from partners, business stakeholders and technical experts.
Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic team environment.
Experience building web views for mobile applications (iOS/Android).
Software engineering experience including unit testing, refactoring, source control management, continuous integration and build processes.
Experience with Agile, Kanban or SCRUM development.
Strong analysis and excellent problem solving skills.
A strong interest in playing with the latest technologies and building compelling UI/UX.
Experience with conducting A/B Testing and usability studies.
Understanding of web services technologies such as MVC, SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST.
Understanding of graphic design principles.
Experience of SEO, accessibility and internationalization.
Proficiency with Object Orientated Programming (OOP).
Knowledge of Linux-based systems and command line interfaces.
