Position Description

Senior Financial Analyst – Sales – S&P Global Platts

The role

This role is a member of the Platts Finance team. This position provides financial planning and analysis support to the Platts Sales Group in order to help Platts achieve its financial goals and support the delivery of the Platts Sales goals. This position will also assist with ad hoc requests and special projects as required.

Responsibilities will include:

Perform monthly accounting close for the Sales group including preparation of journal entries and review of the accounting transactions and related financials

Track and reconcile headcount and compensation related costs for this group

Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations relating to Accrued and Deferred Sales commission

Provide Sales analysis and prepare financial reports for Platts’ Sales management teams and other key stakeholders.

Prepare detailed monthly expense and Sales forecasts (estimates) by partnering with Platts’ Sales management to understand how key business drivers influence the financial performance of the business and be able to project future performance of the business

Assist with annual planning and budget process. Prepare analysis and schedules as requested. Evaluate business trends influencing growth characteristics of the business and prepare analyses to support sector strategies.

Assist with ad hoc requests, special projects, and support the Senior Director – Finance and EMEA Sales VP and Global Strategics VP on an as needed basis

Provides data, analysis, and operational insights for monthly business reviews.

Performs ad hoc analyses as requested in order to help management make informed decisions regarding the short and long term objectives of the business.

Alert management to accounting or operational problems and suggest actionable solutions

Provide thorough and accurate responses to Senior management, Corporate and Audit-related inquiries

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting - Finance. UK (Qualified Accountant :

ACMA - ACCA)

Experience obtained in a demanding environment supporting a global business unit.

Strong MS Excel and financial modelling skills (Pivot tables, V-Lookup). Oracle & IBM Cognos TM1 experience preferred.
