  • Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Dietitian Specialist 2 responsibilities include completing inpatient and/or outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments according to scheduled time frames and implementing appropriate interventional strategies to improve the nutritional outcome of patients requiring a specialized program. Participates in out-patient group nutrition classes as assigned and/or arranges individual appointments when referrals are received. Provides specialized nutrition education to patients and family members. Provides in-services and lectures to clinical staff, and mentors dietitians, dietetic technicians and diet aides to improve performance standards. Participates in educating dietetic and medical students, and serves as a consultant for interns, residents, and attending physicians. Assigned duties may include inpatient, outpatient, and/or clinic setting. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty. Handling/gripping, speed movements, fine dexterity, writing and speaking skills necessary for the job. Able to operate calculator, computer, pager, copy machine and telephone. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, collaborating and accepting direction, able to work calmly and courteously under pressure, display a positive and professional demeanor to patients, visitors, and co-workers, able to be consistent in enforcing Medical Center policies. Ability to speak English fluently. Ability to speak Spanish desirable. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, making judgments, make and follow through on plans, reasoning and problem solving skills, mathematical skills, must be able to organize and prioritize workload, detail oriented. Hours and days vary according to assignment. Location may vary according to assignment. Weekend call or weekend duty may be a part of regular assignment. Participates in weekend/holiday rotation. Available to work overtime if situation necessitates. Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree required, preferably in Nutrition related field. Minimum of two years of clinical nutrition experience required. Certification from Commission on Dietetic registration required. Board Specialist Certification required in lieu of Master's Degree. Valid California driver's license.
