Ecumen Home Care and Hospice-Litchfield provides in-home and community-based services in the Litchfield, Minnesota area. Ecumen creates home for older adults wherever they choose to live. Responsibilities: The Hospice Volunteer Specialist is responsible for recruiting and retaining hospice volunteers. The position involves planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities. The individual will be directly responsible for growing and training the volunteer base and works closely with the Community Liaison at health care and community events to bring awareness to Ecumen Hospice. The position will establish, develop and cultivate relationships with volunteer sources and will work in collaboration with philanthropy on fundraising events. The Volunteer Coordinator will be recruiting for the following volunteer roles; companionship, vigil, and pet therapy. Essential job responsibilities include: Recruits, educates, and selects volunteers on an ongoing basis and from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year. Develops and maintains volunteer training and orientation programs. Communicates a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose and sees possibilities beyond today. Assists in establishing need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team. Supervises and evaluates volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner. Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services. Maintains current volunteer files. Coordinates support/education meetings. Maintains monthly statistics. Reevaluates volunteer program as necessary. Qualifications: Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs. Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services. Minimum of one (1) years experience in a health care or human services setting. Hospice volunteer experience preferred. Understands hospice philosophy. Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time. Must possess a valid driver's license and driving record which meets Ecumen Driver Policy standards and proof of vehicle insurance. College degree preferred.
